1. Swords Driving School Instructors

At Swords Driving School we ensure that:

  • All Swords Driving instructors shall provide the pupil with a dual-controlled car in a clean and roadworthy condition.
  • All instructors shall represent themselves in a professional, smart, and respectful manner at all times.
  • Swords Driving operates a strict no-smoking policy inside all tuition vehicles.
  • Instructors abide by the equal opportunity policy and will not discriminate on the grounds of color, race, creed, gender, or sexuality.

2. Driving Tests

Booking the official driving test is the sole responsibility of the learner. Use of the driving school car for the test is subject to the following rules:

  • Your instructor is entitled to withdraw their car for your test if they assess that you have not reached a safe, test-ready standard.
  • The instructor must give you a minimum of five working days' notice of vehicle withdrawal (providing the test booking wasn't communicated to the instructor at short notice).
  • If your allocated instructor falls ill at short notice, we will endeavor to find a replacement vehicle or instructor, but this cannot be guaranteed.
  • In the event of a mechanical breakdown immediately prior to test, Swords Driving will do its utmost to secure a replacement vehicle. If a DVSA examiner declines a test because the vehicle is deemed unroadworthy for any reasonable reason, Swords Driving will cover the cost of your replacement test.

3. Payments & Receipts

All block bookings paid to your instructor direct (by cash or bank transfer) are solely a contract between the pupil and that self-employed instructor. Swords Driving School cannot be held directly accountable for cash or bank transfers made directly to individual instructors.

  • You are entitled to a receipt for any cash payment. Please ensure you ask your instructor for a receipt on the day of paying. Inform head office immediately if a receipt is not provided.
  • The safest and most secure way to protect your money is by booking and paying Swords Driving School directly by bank transfer or through PayPal.
  • If you experience difficulty obtaining a refund from an instructor for direct payments, Swords Driving will try to assist on your behalf. If unresolved, you may file claims via:
    • Money Claim Online: www.moneyclaim.gov.uk
    • DVSA Complaint Portal: gov.uk/complain-about-a-driving-instructor

4. Cancellation Policy

To keep lesson scheduling fair for all learners, we enforce a standard cancellation notice period:

24-Hour Notice Required

Pupils must give a minimum of 24 hours' notice directly to their instructor to cancel or reschedule a driving lesson. If less notice is given, the instructor is entitled to charge the full lesson rate or deduct the hours from a prepaid block.

It is the student's responsibility to present a valid UK provisional driving license prior to the start of their first lesson. Failure to present a valid license entitles the instructor to cancel the lesson and charge the full fee.

5. Offers & Price Changes

Swords Driving is entitled to change lesson rates and promotional offers at any time. Prices may vary depending on postcode location, time of day, and manual vs. automatic vehicles.

  • First-time promotional offers are strictly available to new pupils joining the school and cannot be combined with other offers.
  • Any prepaid block hours are honored at the price at the time of purchase. However, the first driving lesson must be taken within 6 months from the initial purchase date, after which the credit expires.

6. Use of Personal Information

All personal details provided to Swords Driving School are used solely to deliver the tuition services intended. Client records are kept strictly confidential and secure in accordance with the Data Protection Act.

7. Limitations & Liability

Swords Driving School instructors are self-employed and are not liable to the pupil for any business-related losses, such as lost profits, lost earnings, lost opportunities, or business interruption, including any claims relating to negligence or breach of statutory duty.

All content on our website is provided without implied warranties of compatibility, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose. We make no representations that the website or its servers are error-free or free of viruses.

8. Faults & Damages during Lessons

In the event that the tuition vehicle suffers an unforeseen mechanical fault during a lesson, the instructor will add the lost time to your next lesson or offer a partial refund for the lost duration.

If the vehicle is damaged due to driver error by the pupil (e.g. hitting a curb and puncturing a tire), the time spent resolving the issue at the roadside will count toward the pupil's lesson time. The pupil will not be charged financially for the mechanical damage—only the lesson time spent replacing the tire or waiting for recovery will be lost.
